The FNS Training Programme

Alongside ongoing internal training Fibre Networking Solutions recognize the importance of externally recognized and accredited training courses, as a minimum all of our Fibre Engineers go through a training programme that includes the below with lead engineers and where requirements permit further accreditations are sought.  

We are happy to provide all of our clients with proof of accreditation and use the Network operators passport scheme to allow these to be verified.

Our Standard Accreditations

We expect all of our Fibre Engineers to complete the following external certifications as part of there initial training programme.

NRSWA Unit 2

How to safely carry out signing, lighting and guarding of street works and road works on all highways and roads

Course Overview

The NRSWA Signing, Lighting and Guarding training course is designed to operatives and supervisors understand the requirements of the street works and road works Code of Practice

SA001

Working on ladders and wooden poles safely following all policies, procedures and safe working practices.

Course Overview

Provides learners with the skills and knowledge of the hazards and potential risks involved in working safely on ladders and wooden poles in a telecommunications environment

SA002

Hazards and potential risks involved inworking safely on or in proximity to underground structures and operational buildings

Course Overview

It provides learners with the skills and knowledge of the hazards and potential risks when carryout a gas test to themselves, their immediate surroundings and the public and how to lift covers safely in line with manual handling principles

S7 - PIA

Deploy cable and Sub Duct up to a maximum diameter of 25mm within the Openreach underground infrastructure safely.

Course Overview

Covers the agreed network quality standards associated with PIA (Physical Infrastructure Access) CP (Communication Provider) cable deployment.

S8 - PIA

installing a Communication Provider's overhead cable in line with current PIA terms and conditions

Course Overview

Understand the Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA) requirements of Communication Providers (CP) and demonstrate their competence in undertaking an overhead install

City & Guilds 3667

Components, equipment and working practices that are used for premise cabling and fibre optic cabling deployed in an external telco environment

Course Overview

The course looks at basic installation practices, fibre optic connectorisation, splicing fibre, external enclosures and test requirements and on completion, delegates will be able to apply the skills gained to real-life situations involving cabling systems.

Workplace First Aid

Basic information needed to be able to recognise emergency situations, treat conditions & reactions and ensure that you can take appropriate action.

Course Overview

How to safely administer first aid during the COVID-19 pandemic and the additional measures that are necessary, including personal protective equipment (PPE) and thorough cleaning.

S6 - PIA

Covers underground (ducts) safety for the Openreach network

Course Overview

Training designed to develop the delegates knowledge of the Openreach underground Infrastructure and necessary skills to undertake a safe PIA (Physical Infrastructure Access) duct Survey.

S8 - PIA

PIA Cable Installation Overhead

Course Overview

The accreditation covers the engineering techniques used to deploy drop cable up to a maximum diameter of 7mm within the Openreach Overhead infrastructure safely and by agreed network quality standards.
